How Moxa from Jubu Tang Took Care of My Family’s Health

Another Year Flies By: How Moxa from Jubu Tang Took Care of My Family’s Health

As the year comes to a close, I found myself mentally reviewing how everyone in the family has fared health-wise. Thanks to your support, things were pretty okay this year.

I had a few bouts of throat discomfort, Xiao He caught a couple of mild colds, and Lao He, aside from his usual toothaches, also had some trouble with his back. Now, let me share how we managed to wipe out these issues—thanks to the moxa products from Jubu Tang.

Xiao He: The Working Girl’s Cure for Colds and Period Woes

In August 2020, Xiao He officially joined the workforce. Due to pandemic measures, her workplace decided not to grant time off for the Spring Festival. On the 29th day of the lunar twelfth month, she went to work early in the morning and started feeling unwell—sore back, body aches, and she thought she might have a fever. After work, she took her temperature—38.5°C!

I sprang into action: I did gua sha on the back of her neck, placed a cotton ball soaked in Huoxiang Zhengqi liquid on her navel (we didn’t have any medical pads at hand), let her soak her feet in a Jubu Tang moxa foot bath, applied cupping from Tiantu to Shanzhong, and finally tied a moxa canister to the back of her neck. Just a few hours later, her fever was gone.

The next day was New Year’s Eve. She had breakfast and went to work as usual, and by evening she was smiling like a flower—the cold had been completely “moxa-ed” away.

Ever since then, whenever she gets a stuffy nose, a headache, or her period gets sluggish, she always says: “Mom, can I have a moxa stick? I want to do some moxibustion.”

Lao He: Leg Pain, Toothaches, and Back Trouble—Handled by Moxa and DIY Spirit

Whenever Lao He has leg pain or a toothache, he just lights a moxa stick and treats himself.

Just a few days ago, he noticed a red bump on his calf. He decided to use suspended moxibustion. The next day, it had blistered. I took a look—sure enough, it was from the moxa. He said, “Wow, that must mean there’s a lot of dampness.” I told him, “Pop it and keep moxa-ing.” By evening, the wound had started to close up. That was fast!

Then on July 22nd, he took a nap and woke up unable to bend his back—and worse, he couldn’t urinate!

He suspected some kind of inflammation and took antibiotics, but after trying to pee three times with no luck, I suggested, “Why not try moxa?” He agreed. I lit two moxa canisters and placed them on either side of his lower abdomen. Half an hour later—he was able to urinate! Just thirty minutes—that’s the magic of moxibustion.

As for the back issue, we didn’t even bother going to the hospital. I said, “They’d just slap a patch on you—might as well handle it at home.” He agreed. So he used the Jubu Tang moxa bed and later switched to their four-point moxa belt. After two days on the moxa bed and a week with the belt, his back was pretty much back to normal. I followed up with a full-back cupping session and a ginger-isolated moxibustion session. He’s been doing well since.

Me: Longstanding Nose and Throat Troubles

As for myself, my recurring issues are with my throat and nose. When my throat feels off, I do some cupping and then wear a moxa eye mask. If it’s my nose, I go for suspended moxibustion. For regular wellness maintenance, I like to moxa my waist, abdomen, and buttocks. That last area gets itchy after moxa, so I follow up with cupping. Believe it or not, I’ve been cupping that spot for over a year.

After June 23rd last year, though, nothing more came out during cupping, so I guess that’s a small victory.

Right now, I’m doing moxa as I write this. Today is the solar term “Minor Cold,” which is a traditional time for moxibustion. My stomach’s been a bit off too, so I’m doing a “two-for-one” session.

Last but Not Least
Everything I mentioned—the moxa bed, moxa sticks, moxa foot baths, and the moxa belt—came from Jubu Tang. Their products truly are worth having in your home.
